i have been using my controller as a remote, but i always forget which darn buttons do what, is the playstation remote worth it? it would probably make my life a lot easier. also, does anybody know about other brands of remotes that can be used for the ps3? i am wondering which one is best for me and for the money. then i can stop using my controller.
it is surely worth every penny. i would sell off all my controllers before i got rid of my ps3 remote. it will get the job done, and then you can stop using your controller, which i agree is a big pain. if you don’t want to spend the money, make yourself a little cheat sheet on what button does what until you learn how to do it.
i would say to get one, but i do find one drawback in my remote. the buttons do not light up, which makes movie watching in the dark quite difficult. you kind of have to learn where all the buttons are, or keep a small light close to it. otherwise, i have no complaints, you should pick one up!
i would purchase the sony model instead of some off brand. those other brands use a usb dongle instead of bluetooth technology. you will be using up one of your usb ports if your purchase them. it really isn’t that expensive, and you will get a lot of use out of it if you use your ps3 for movies as well.
this is a nice add on to the system but you do not need the remote to play blu ray movies on your ps3. there is no need to spend the extra $20-$30 dollars for the remote. to answer your question you do not need to get the remote for the ps3.
i would say that there is no need to pick up the ps3 remote unless you got it with the system in a package deal. the ps3 controller can do all the same things as the remote can do so why wast your money on the remote when you can get a new game for not much more then that price.
