we have had a number of ps2 systems and have used them as dvd players as well. however the lazors always seems to die on us. we just got a ps3 and my bros are telling me that our ps2 systems always died cuz we used it as a dvd player sometimes and that it's hard on the system. they said we shouldn't use the ps3 as a blu ray player. i am wondering if this is the same thing will happen to the ps3 when watching blu ray. i wanna buy blu ray but i don't want to damage my system. does anyone know if this is something the ps3 has been having trouble with. also what are the benefits of having a movie on blu ray? is the pic that much better for the price? i was also reading that you can just put a regular dvd into a blu ray player and it enhances the image anyway. is it the same thing?
