i've had the 1000 watt 5.1 rca rt2870 home theater system for just over a year now, and the remote had just stopped working this afternoon. i thought it was just the batteries were dead, but i tried 2 other sets of new batteries and none of them worked at all. i can't get any response out of the system from the remote. is there any way that i can use my tv remote (this one: http://www.amazon.com/lg-oem-akb72915206-remote-control/dp/b003p44qu8) to at least control the volume? if not, is there any way to test that its not the remote, but the ir receiver on the system that's causing the problem? i would say this isn't too big of a deal, but then i realized that i have no control over the majority of the settings on the system without the remote. also, is there a replacement remote that i can buy? i tried looking but they are all over $35, and i dont want to blow that much on something that might not even work. this broken remote is the rca rcr192ab1.

any help would be great, even if it is just to get the volume control back.
