i keep hearing the you need to get a surround sound system for your new tv. what the heck is surround sound really? i get that it would have sound all around you but what is it? i know that movie theaters use surround sound but they have too. does this really make your movies that much better as well?
surround sound provides you with the depth and ambiance in the movies that you love to watch it will give you a better panning effects. (from speaker to speaker) if you think you are just watching anther movie on your tv then you are not hooked up right. the surround sound should make you feel like you are in the movie.
surround sound emulates life-like sounds for audience,
the aim of this technology is to create atmospheric effects thru sound,
like when you're watching an action-packed movie such as the matrix trilogy
you would feel as if you're in the middle of the gunfights where bullets fly like rain all over you
the two posters above me said right what i was thinking, surround sound really makes you feel like the action is happening to you. close your eyes and it's as if you were in the movie
surround sound like dolby 5.1 or dts 5.1 for example gives you 5 surround speakers that have there own dedicated channel for sound, meaning that you have a front right and left speaker and a center channel and 2 rear speakers for sounds behind you. your front 3 speakers are going to give you discrete left to right sounds and the center is going to give almost all of the dialog from the movie. so when a car drives by from left to right it will go from the left speaker through to the right speaker so it sounds just like you were hearing it in real life. if something happens behind you in the movie well the rear surround speaker will pick that up either left or right or both just like you wold hear it in real life. now not everything is in 5.1 almost all dvd's are but not all tv shows so even though you may have it set up you still have to have to source be coded for 5.1
the .1 in the 5.1 is the subwoofer
if your watching a movie on your tv speakerss your getting 2ch stereo at best so all you get is left to right.
it is one of the technique to enrich the sound we get from the source. it uses the discrete speakers and not the ordinary speakers. it is created using many techniques like microphone or mixing technique..
