buy the led...led are quickly replacing lcd backlighting technology. the lcd's require a high voltage to light the fluorescent tubes and they have serious design problems with the circuitry used.
led is thinner, lighter, and better overall picture quality.

gas going in your plasma.??? that is a myth.....an led is just an lcd with a different type of backlighting, however, it is thinner, lighter, and uses slightly less power. same pros and cons as an lcd. newer plasma tv's have the same lifespan as any tv, and have a very fast response time and colors, not to mention the extreme viewing angle without degradation of picture..(no more burn-in issues either..(if you buy a quality brand.) great for fast action.. average life of any lcd/led/plasma.... 60,000 hours..

their is a dif. between lcd and led while it is true that leds are lcd tv with led(light emitting diod) in them they are improved from lcd they have longer life span 100,000 for some, fast responce time they dont run as hot as regular lcd, they have higher contrast ratio (in the millions compared to lcd which have ten-hundred thousand depends on model) so go with led nd plasma tv tend to lose quality over time.

you could try satellite direct to watch live and recorded rugby world cup games online for free.
get it here.

http://best-sports-tv.com

there are hundreds of worldwide tv channels like abc, espn, cbs, fox, tnt, cbc, tsn, ctv, bbc, nbc, local...
download and install it on your computer.
click one of the channels that broadcast the rugby world cup games, follow those links until you find the game you want. the quality isn't the best but it's not bad.
with it, you can watch rugby world cup games and lots of tv channels live online legally, comfortably .
no matter where you live . hope this helps.
