i have been having problems with the framerate in a handful of games. i know it's not the games because i have talked to the game companies, and others who have payed them, and they said this isn't a common problem and i shouldn't have any trouble with them. it's become real frustrating. the gameplay tends to be slightly to moderately choppy and the cutscenes can stutter pretty bad. i have noticed it most with the larger data heavy games. it's odd because it's only about 10% of the games i have. i have noticed it more in the last 6 months as well.there must be something wrong with my ps3 but i don't know what. it's not overheating as the system doesn't turn itself off. i have been told it might be my graphics chip, my blu-ray player or even my hdd. i don't think it's the graphics chip because i don't see any lines, pixels, blocks or polygons. i'm thinking it could be my blu-ray drive but somebody that knows about game consoles told me it it is likely my hdd. does anybody have any ideas what could cause this problem? could my hdd cause problems with just select games? i would think i would have more problems than that.
ps. i have also noticed some blurring at times when watching movies. i don't know if this is this hd effect or not. i will notice a quick blur when people move across the screen fast or the camera pans quickly. i only notice this occasionally and more with some movies than others. this may be just a hd camera issue because i have also noticed this on my other blu-ray player and i never noticed it before hd became popular.
i know it's not the hdmi because i have tried numerous ones that all work on other devices but i don't know if it could be the ps3 power cord that came with it. i have never tried another one of those. does anybody think it could be bad hdmi ports on my tv? i have 4 of them and i have tried them all. i can't imagine they are all faulty.

what i'm thinking is that you might have a bad a/v or hdmi cable because sony doesn't put a lot of work into the a/v cables. i got a faulty one with the ps3 and the colors would turn purple and dark on the screen, then i picked up a energizer cable from wal-mart and bam! problem fixed. hope this helps
