manufacturer wanting to produce blu-ray product will only need to buy one license to produce the player instead of buying blu-ray, dvd, and cd licenses. also, the cost to license blu-ray products have dropped for all formats and devices. this makes it relatively easy for lesser known manufacturer to jump and start making blu-ray players.
