Default Want to play discs from the UK - 12-05-2009, 01:07 AM

i was originally thinking of importing a player from europe that would only be set up for pal region b, but then i remembered the voltage difference. so, can anyone suggest some region-free players? money is an issue, but function is more important.
i've done some research (such as searching keyword ''''''region-free blu-ray player'''''' on amazon) and came up with a possibility: the panasonic dmp-bd60. however, looking at technical specs, it doesn't mention anything about region, just that it supports both ntsc and pal. can anyone confirm that it's region-free? if it's not, what's an alternative of a similar price point.

there may be another obstacle. even if i found the right player, would the tv set itself need to support pal? i don't know enough about all this technology stuff to know for sure, but if the tv doesn't have the support, that would mean i would need to buy another tv. i really hope this is not the case, as that would immediately make this whole endeavor of viewing discs from europe just a dream. would the player convert my pal discs to ntsc for the tv, or what?

thanks in advance

you will need a disc player capable of playing the region locked discs. you can google and fine different region free players. the panasonic models with k designation seems to be free region players. the television set might be able to display pal source. but, it may not display them correctly. i'd call the manufacturer to make sure your set can handle pal signal
