Post Sony BDP-S550 Blu-ray Player Review - 01-28-2009, 11:55 AM

this is one of the newer blu ray players to come out from sony, just came out last fall. it is known for one of the fastest loading machines, as well as one of the most quietest machines. while it is a little more on the expensive side, you are definitely paying for a quality player. you can expect to pay around $350 for this machine. it features internet connected firmware updates, as well as it is small and sleek. this is by far one of the more popular players by sony for these reasons. you may think it is a little more expensive than you would like to pay, but it seems to be everything you would want in a blu ray player.

it plays blu ray, dvd, and cds as well. it has an hdmi and analog output of 7.1. also, it can be region freed. if you all looking for an all-round quality machine that is going to last you, this would be a great machine to add to your home theater system.

it sounds like this is one of the better machines from sony, as they always seem to deliver quality electronics. i just have a ps3 for the moment, but when i do look for a separate blu ray player i will be looking for something of high quality and fast loading times because i want it to last me a long time. electronics are constantly changing and i want it to still work and be good for a long time down the road.

i hear everyone talking about region free, what the heck does that mean? is there some movies that do not work for other ones, or certain areas of the world it wouldn’t work? i never knew. oh well, this blu ray player sounds like it has it all. good information, thanks!

excellent review with great information. sony has always been known to make a high quality product that will last a long time, but you are going to pay for it. i love to find deals, and sony never really has any. if you are looking for an upper end machine, this might be the kind you want to check out. thanks!

sony bdp-s550 is the upgraded version of the bdp-s350 and also profile 2.0 compliant. its image quality is comparable with any other blu-ray player of its range. but the most special feature is its extra storage capacity.
