why i am not the asking questions about blu ray what the heck is the real difference between blu ray and dvd's. why are blu rays so much better? they are for the most part double the price of a dvd right now so why make the change.

well here is a list of what the differences really are for you kate. the really only things that make a big difference is that a blu ray disc has 25gb of storage space were as a dvd has only 4.7gb of space on it. the video output for the blu ray player will give you 1080 were as dvd will only give you 480. the last major thing is going to be in the sound department as blu ray will have linear pcm, dolby digital, dolby digital plus, dolby truehd, dts digital surround, and dts-hd. the dvd will have linear pcm, dolby digital, and dts digital surround. hope this helps you out kate.

the difference in picture and sound quality is like night and day. the price is quite a bit harder, but it will come down in time. watch a traditional movie, and then watch one in blu ray. you will completely notice a huge difference.

i agree with mikey. i think you should watch a traditional dvd movie, than pop in a blu ray to your blu ray player or ps3. you will see a complete different in sound and quality. depending on the size of your television, you may actually feel like you are in the theater. ok, maybe not but you get my point.
