Post VHS Winding Down are DVD's Next to Fall? - 01-25-2009, 11:58 AM

the last few shippments of vhs tapes are on there way out. this is kinda sad as the vhs has been around for what like 30 years. i will have to agree with the people that are saying that dvd will be next. i will give them about 2-4 years and then everything will start to turn to blu ray. the dvd will not have the life span that the vhs got to live. here is a link to the store.

vhs era is winding down - los angeles times

i don't think that dvds will be as popular within the next year. i am sure that they will slowly go down in popularity the more that the players drop in price. i have seen them just around $100, which is getting a lot more comparable to a dvd player. once there is a little bit better selection of movies, they will go away quite quickly.

the selection of blu ray movies is increasing greatly. eventually it will come to the point where there are just as many different blu rays as there is regular dvds, and then there will be more. i think it will take some time, but it may be sooner than later at this rate.

well it is about time that the vhs era comes to a close. they had there run for like 30 years. they have come and gone and now it is dvd's and soon it will be blu ray. i did not even know that they still made any vhs tapes anymore. you do not see them anywhere anymore.

it all really depends on how many older movies start coming out on blu ray. the better selection of blu ray movies, the more people will start making the switch over. what i think a lot of people realize is that they can still play their old dvds in a blu ray player, so they do not become obsolete. yet at least.

the movies are coming out a lot more now, but it will still be a little while before dvd is completely gone. heck, you can still find a few vhs around, it's very rare though. it will only be a matter of time though.

blu ray technology is pretty good, i don't think there will be something to replace it for quite some time. they are still so new, and growing so rapidly. i would think that it would be at least another ten years down the road before something new comes about. time will tell though.
