i just purchased a ps3 from a friend. however, it will not play ps3 games. everything else is working properly, such as blu-ray movies, ps1 games and so on.
where would i turn to to repair this issue?
i suspect that it is a code error in the software, so i factory restored my console, with no result.

i had the same problem. just buy a new laser and replace it. they cost about $60 -$100

if it's playing blu-rays then it should be playing games, as they are blu-ray too. so either your friend has sold you a faulty ps3, or you're looking for games incorrectly (they appear under game on main menu) or it's a disc fault, such as dirt or damage.

i'd get your money back from friend.
