i use the dvd to iphone app from aimersoft.com. i think i paid $35 for it, but it was well worth it.
they now have a blu-ray product as well.
the video needs to be converted to the h.264 standard for the iphone or ipad.

of course you can't just open blu rays on ipad, they have different ways in decoding so you have to convert blu ray to video formats supported on ipad, they are usually in mp4.
so all you have to do is installing a blu ray ripper and then let the software do those things!

you have to use blu-ray ripping software. i recommend you dvdfab blu-ray ripper.you can rip any blu-ray movie to various video/audio formats like mkv, avi, mp4, m2ts, ts, mp3, mp4, wma, wav, ac3, dts etc. for playback on ipad, ipod, iphone, psp, xbox 360, etc.

how about converting blu-ray movies to ipad playable format? i had the same problem with you. and some one recommand me a blu-ray to ipad converter, which can solve this trouble. maybe you can try it.
