don't buy a blu-ray home theater system. buy a home theater system, and buy a blu-ray player. separate components have significantly higher quality and can be just as affordable.

you should avoid any htibs (home theater in a box) if they have integrated dvd/blu-ray players. when looking at those systems, considere this...how much larger is the receiver/blu-ray combo than a traditional blu-ray player? not much! as such home much of the components inside do you think are dedicated to audio quality? not much at all! systems like the ones you listed sacrifice quality for connivence. browse around the home theater section here for a little while. a large majority of questions involve people trying to get better quality, and connectivity out of systems like the ones you selected. the better option is not to buy them in the first place.

when purchasing a home theater system, you're making an investment, and as such i would suggest not buying into disposable htibs. not if, but when, the central receiver/blu-ray player goes out you will need to replace the entire system you often cannot mix and match these systems.

the better home theater systems, do not include a dvd/blu-ray player, so unfortunately you would have to add one to it, but even adding a $35 blu-ray player to it, you will get better quality. (and yes you can find $35 blu-ray players)

here are the two lowest home theater systems that i can recommend.

and yes, you can send audio from a computer to a home theater system, and video to your hdtv. i do it almost everyday. i would suggest purchasing a sound-card for your computer that is compatible with 5.1 audio with a digital optical output. i use a digital optical cable to connect my laptop to my surround sound receiver.

those home theater in a box are not flexible for adding anything or up grading. most of them does not offer any input for you to connect your tv or a blu ray disc player. when one item fails the whole system has to be replaced. i would recommend you look at an onkyo ht-s3400, it is a 5.1 receiver and a set of speakers. you add a panasonic blu ray disc player mocel bd-65 or 75, all that for around $500. this is a much better system and more reliable. you can connect your audio from the computer to the receiver to hear the sound when playing video games. you can demo the system at any fry's electronic store. hope this will help you out.
