according to
engadget, panasonic is planning to (actually announced a year ago) introduce plasma and blu-ray 3d set up sometimes next year. furthermore, sony also announced 3d content on blu-ray on its own press release. obviously in order to experience the 3d content, you would need 3d glasses. but the 3d technology and the glasses are not new to the media scene. they were around for a quite a while but never really became popular for home use.
i think this type of technology convergence screams for disaster. companies in this industry is really not thinking outside of box. 3d? yeah you are going to see me putting on glasses to watch 3d content on blu-ray.
leave 3d glasses to amusement parks!
other than that, i guess avatar will have some sort of 3d features when it debuts on discs. again, folks, it will just be a novelty, not a fad.
