finally got an hd tv about a month ago (lg 42'''''' lcd) and i'm currently only watching movies through on-demand. are blu-ray movies higher quality? signed up for netflix but streaming is only 720p which is dissapointing, but, i could keep the account and start getting movies in the mail. should i throw down the cash?

p.s. i know what a frickin ps3 is and that it has a blu ray player. but i like my game consoles like i like my beer...domestic.
