Default Picture on Samsung doesn’t look right playing movie!? - 06-14-2011, 12:34 PM

hard to describe but i'll do my best. i just hooked up a new (brand new) samsung 6000 series 46'''''' hd tv to a sony playstation. i played a blu-ray movie (spider-man) to see what the quality would look like. when playing the movie, it looks sort of surreal in that the people look like they are in a soap opera. the quality looks great but looks like you are on the set watching it through a tv and transposing the real filming. i know this isn't normal and i had seen this one time in a section of the movie 2012. the tv is showing that it picks the playstation @ 60 hz 1920x1080i even though it can display up to120hz. i've tried adjusting the picture quality, etc. on the tv and it still seems to be the same. any suggestion on what it could be?

plz, if you don't have anything intelligible or substantial to say, don't leave your remark here.

it has the ultra clear panel display on it correct? that is why it look like that i personally love how my 650 look with the ultra clear panel display but that's just me. any way the reason for the 60hz is that the ps3 doesn't have a 120hz output on it but as far as i know no consumer tv's have a 120hz input so don't worry about it. at best buy they are going to try to sell you a super expensive hdmi cable to make the 120hz show up in the info, don't do it. your tv has a built in algorithm that take a 60hz signal and converts it to 120hz buy inserting frames.

edit: the other thing to check on the fact that the image looks weird is the setting for the 120hz technology and make sure it is either on medium or low. i find that on high it makes everything look super fake looking. i keep mine on med and have had no problems with the look.
