we have connected our blu-ray player to our lcd tv via an hdmi cord. dvds will play on the tv, but not blu-rays. trying to play a blu-ray movie it shows the loading icon, then after a few seconds says ''''''bd'''''' in the upper right hand corner, then looks like its loading again. ultimately leading to a screen that says ''''''no signal''''''??? what the heck is going on? its a brand spanking new hdmi cord.
we tried a different hdmi cord, and it did not work. now we have a component video cord set up and it does work. so are the hdmi ports bad or could one of the devices not be reading the hdmi info correctly?

if you play regular old dvds in it the hdmi is working.

but some of the cheaper hdmi's cant handle blue ray there is just to much information.

i think it's the player.

but you can try buying a monster hdmi thats rated for blue ray ask at hhgregg or best buy.

it sounds like you just switched cables. try going back to your old component or composite cable and see if bds play. if they do, your hdmi connection is bad regardless of the fact that the cable is new.

blu-ray players have 2 lasers, a ''''''red'''''' one for dvds and a ''''''blue'''''' one for bds. if you can't play bds through any type of connection, your blue laser is kaput.
