Default Help with Blu-Ray Discs & Blu-Ray player? - 06-13-2011, 07:33 PM

okay, i wanna get a blu-ray player because everyone i know says they're much better than dvds, and i've seen a couple of blu-ray movies with my friends, and i agree, they're really great. so, can i get some advice?
ok, if i were to buy a blu-ray player, would i have to buy a new tv as well? i have a standard dell flat screen tv is that good enough to use with blu-rays? and if not, can you give me an idea of what it would cost me to buy a proper tv? please, if you own a blu-ray player, let m e know everything, no details spared.
thank you.

blu ray discs are best viewed on full 1080p hdtvs. honestly if you are going to watch a blu ray on a standard definition tv there is absolutely no point because your tv can't handle the better picture quality and it will probably look like crap. so i recommend buying a 1080p. these can cost anywhere from a few hundred for a small one to a few thousand for a really good one. but seriously don't waste your money on a blu ray player if you don't have an hdtv because you will be disappointed. but anyway i have a playstation 3 which is definitely what i recommend because you can enjoy blu ray quality movies and gaming all in one. if you don't want to get one then go for a samsung blu ray player. samsung does a good job on just about everything they make. hope this helps and happy viewing!!

to take advantage of the blu ray disc movies you are going to need a tv screen of 46'''''' or larger with 1080p. keep in mind that you can not really see the difference between 720p and 1080p in screen smaller than a 46''''''. dvd is also only at the 480p. go online to home theater magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with blu ray disc player. panasonic is one of the most reliable tv in the market along with there blu ray disc player. i still have my first generation blu ray disc player from panasonic model bd-10 and it is over 4 years old and played over 300 blu ray disc movies without any problems. keep in mind, you get what you pay for. hope this will help you out.
