Default Does 1080P matter on a 32'''''' LCD TV? - 06-13-2011, 05:09 PM

i am looking to purchase a new 32'''''' lcd tv. i could save about $50 by going with 720p instead of 1080p, and i heard that at my viewing distance (5-8ft) and on a 32'''''' screen, the difference isn't noticeable. now, i plan to use the tv in the future to double as a computer monitor and i also play games with my ps3 and xbox 360. i do own a couple blu-ray movies as well. but again, at the viewing distance mentioned and the screen size, will i notice the difference?

currently looking at getting this...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?_dyncharset=iso-8859-1&_dynsessconf=1679767330036630768&id=pcat17071&ty pe=page&st=9574105&sc=global&cp=1&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&l ist=n&iht=y&usc=all+categories&ks=960

but they have similar 720p models that are $50+ cheaper, same specs otherwise.

i really would love to have an internet connectible tv, but if i am hooking my pc up to it in the future, does it matter?
these are the 3 tvs i am looking at...one is the above link...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex%26%23153%3b+-+32%22+class+/+720p+/+60hz+/+led-lcd+hdtv/1405381.p?id=1218255997944&skuid=1405381&st=140538 1&cp=1&lp=1#tabbed-customerreviews - dynex 32'''''' 720p led-lcd

now, the price is $350, $350, $320.....i don't know much about dynex but i know its bb's brand and its mostly made by lg (from a google search), so i may go with the $350 toshiba, drop the 1080p to 720p and get an led out of it, what do ya'll think?

you are correct that 720 is fine for tv sets below 50 inches.

360 and ps3 games are often only 720p to begin with, so no quality loss there.

with the bluray, the only problem may come from downscalling. i've never noticed a problem, but it is possible.

hooking up your pc is the very best way to get the internet on your tv. set top boxes often do only a handful of things, but a pc will do everything.

you also have a ps3, which will do very good for internet. you really don't need a tv with apps, when you have a ps3.
