summit home entertainment has announced that the first release of twilight will be an exclusive to best buy and target. it will be released to them on march 21st. other retailers will receive it until may 5th. this is only for the blu ray copies. i have never heard this before! i will for sure be going to pick this up at target when it comes out because this was a great film. you can read the whole story here:

i don't know if i have ever seen a release that has originally been a store exclusive. i agree twilight was a great show. typically when a new release hits store shelves the first week , it is at a discounted price. this probably means since only two different stores will have it, no sale.

hopefully they have a lot of copies on hand because this movie was so popular in theaters, i am sure they will sell a lot.

this is probably the dumbest thing i have ever heard. why would they do this to a new release of a good show? i am personally not a fan of target so i guess i will have to go to best buy if i want it. i really do wonder if they will have it at a discounted price on release week? like you said, probably not. oh well, i guess i can wait till it is released everywhere else. i haven't seen the show, but i guess it was really good.

that is crazy why would you only have it come out to two stores early and make the rest of them wait until may. this is only the blu-ray copy that will make some people a bit upset. i did see this movie and yes this will sell a lot of copies when it does come out in march. i hope they do not try to keep doing thing like this with blu-ray movies.

think about it for a second. there are targets everywhere and i am sure you a target near where you live unless you happen to live in the middle of nowhere.

i am sure people will get it if they are desperate enough.

that and i am sure that target and best buy paid some money to be able to get the blu ray verson of the movie that much sooner then everyone else. yes ed i would agree with you that there is a target in more or less every town around. so this makes a lot of sense for them to get in on this deal. i am sure this will lead to other stores to work out getting movies as exculsves for them as well in the blu ray verson.

i am going to say that this is going to start to become an issue if store keep doing this. i am going to be running to target for one movie and then to best buy for the other one. where will it stop because you know that the big bad walmart is not going to take this for vary long before they start to take more then just one movie to be an exclusive to them.

it looks like everyone has put there two cents into this all ready but i am going to say that i agree if they start doing it with one movie they are going to start doing it with every other movie that is going to be a big release. i will agree that walmart will not let this fly for vary long before they jump at the blu ray exclusive market.

ed146, you have a point. target is quite popular, and if they want the movie, they will go and get it. have you seen this movie? what did you think about it? i have heard a ton of great things about this movie, but personally i have not seen it.
