i'm hoping you can help me, as i think i have a problem .
i purchased blade runner blu ray 5 disc collection on november 28th of last year from amazon.com (i live in australia)
interestingly enough, i only just watched it today and i was extremely shocked by the picture quality (after hearing such good comments on it). i am referring to disc 1 which is the final cut (unless i'm mistaken).
i'm not sure if anyone has heard of this problem, but i will try and describe it. throughout the movie there is a horizontal thick green line (in darkly lit scenes) uhh, semi transparent, sort of like a lens flare or something? but it comes around extremely often, not to mention the overall quality is just not good.
after i finished the movie i wasn't completely sure it was a problem or just the look of the film (i haven't seen it before) but i put in disc 3 and played the theatrical cut for a bit, and the pq looked so much better, there wasn't any of the *green flares* that were on disc 1, it was a lot less grainy, more sharp and better all round. is disc 1 supposed to look like this (quite simply i would say it just looks grubby)? or is it possible i got a dud? i apologise if i'm being naive since i haven't seen this before, but there was a very big difference between the different versions in terms of quality..

i purchased this about 3 weeks ago and have not had the chance to watch it.
i will try out the disc 1 and let you know. maybe yours is defective.

i'm having the same issue. it looks like there's a green letterbox overlaid on top of the image. the overall picture quality isn't very good. i have this issue on both disc 1 and my mislabeled disc 5. disc 3 looks fine.

i found out that disc 1 is a duplicate of disc 5 (content-wise) the artwork is correct...
so 2 versions of the workprint and no final cut.. means we got ripped.. ive emailed warner.. no reply yet.. any suggestions?

warner is suppose to replace it. why don't you call warner bros. consumer hotline at 1-800-553-6937. i am going to call them and see what they can do.

i have read on other forums that wb have sent replacement to people.

i hate to stir up a fanboy flame war; but it seems that all of a sudden warner's been slacking off on the blu-ray side of things, and has even stopped their special advertising of the blu-ray editions of their movies, collectively calling hdm ''''''hi-def,'''''' while placing the hd-dvd titles prominently on top of their blu-ray counterparts.

this movie is classic science fiction at it's best. watch the directors cut which does not have the voice over. seminal.
