for the week ending in january 25th, blu ray was 17% of all home video sales. that now breaks the weekly record of 16%, and it is only going higher. this shows that a lot more people are upgrading to blu ray players, and they are becoming more affordable to all.
how long do you think it will take to take over 100%?
this is great news and only shows that the blu ray switch is starting to be pushed over to be in everyone's home soon. the price drop in the blu ray players is a big help to this. i would say that it will only keep going up and up, but 100% will be more like 5-6 years down the road.
this is not much of a surprize as the price of blu ray players drops there will be more and more that will be going into peoples homes. then there will be more and more blu ray movies being sold.
that is great news to hear. i don't think that we will see this reach the 100% mark soon or even ever. there will be something new out there before it will ever get that high. i would say that by christmas it will be in to the 30-40 percent range.
it won't be much longer before it takes over. the only thing they need to do now is continuously lower the price. i think that is the only reason why they haven't taken over already. the players have come down significantly in price, now the movies need to.
lowering the price is going to be key to getting more people to buy blu ray players and movies. no one has a lot of extra money to spend these days, and it would be nice if they continue to go down in price.
this is a good sign that the blu ray players are starting to take over now and this number will only get bigger and bigger as the price of blu ray keeps falling. i think it will take a number of years to get to that 100% mark.
looks like blu ray is doing good! i think it'll probably reach around 25% by summer time, bluray really doesn't have any competition at the moment, so i think the percent will keep rising
