Default Can i fix YLOD by replacing ps3 motherboard? - 06-15-2011, 09:40 AM

i tried re-flow by using a heat gun (no flux used) about 4 times, and the fix was only temporary (few days). i want a permanent fix. i'm thinking of buying a motherboard with the same model no. as mine and replacing it. i would like to know if anyone has done this before and had any success. while doing my research i found that the motherboards may be coded to work with a specific blu ray drive. can anybody confirm this to be true or not? any help will be appreciated.

getting a new mobo is about the same as getting a new system. though if you want to get a new mobo, that's your choice. as for the blu-ray drive coding issue, it's actually been proven false as you can switch out the drive. there are even youtube videos to show you how. so basically, replacing the motherboard will be like getting a new system and the blu-ray drive can be swapped.
