okay. so i loveee movies. i have a lot of dvds of the movies i love. so, yesterday i went to best buy to get my all time favorite scary movie: a nightmare on elm st. (2010), but i had to buy the blu ray combo because they didn't have the plain dvd. now, i watched both the blu ray disc and the dvd disc on my hdtv and i noticed a visual difference a bit, but really if i mixed up the discs and watched one, i wouldn't be able to tell what disc i was watching.

but the sound was soooooo much better. it was amazing compared to dvd. so now i like blu ray better, but i'm not sure if it's worth replacing all my dvds with blu rays of the same movie... should i just keep the dvds and any new movies i buy just buy blu rays, or do you think it's worth replacing my standard dvds with the blu ray version?

first, how many movies do you have? that will be a huge factor.

my husband and i have 800+ dvds. obviously replacing them all isn't going to happen. we basically agreed to replace movies that are our favorites, as well as blockbusters that have a cinematic look and feel to them that would be enhanced by br. all new purchases are br, unless there's a deal on the dvd that just can't be passed up.
