i mean a compact disc is known by all as a cd, and of course everyone refers to a dvd instead of digital versitile disc, so why can't people call a blu-ray disc a bd ?
they only say blu-ray or blue-ray disc.

you are wrong. don't try and tell me a bd is not a bd.
it is the official abreviation. look it up on the web.
i am only asking why people prefer to call it blu-ray or blu-ray disc when saying bd is so much easier.

it would have to be brd (or brd), not bd, to be as true to
the name of the format as cd is to compact disc.

by the way, the terms ''''''digital video disc'''''' and ''''''digital versatile disc''''''
were dropped years ago when the format was officially renamed dvd,
so this term, though it was originally an abbrevation, isn't one any more.
