not unless it has the blu-ray emblem on the drive. blurays use a different protocol and a ultraviolet laser.

hello, dear, the blu-ray disc can be played only when there is a blu-ray drive or a blu-ray player. the common dvd player etc can not do this.

look at the label on the drive. a dvd recorder will record and play dvd's and cd's. unless it is a combo type drive and it says blu-ray on the label. some combo drives and recorders will only read a blu-ray disk in addition to reading and writing dvd's and cd's, while some others will both record and play blu-ray disks as well as dvd's and cd's. and then, there is software... the software package you have must also be equipped to handle a blu-ray capable drive.
