well my player is temperamental...sometimes it plays the blu rays discs and sometimes it doesn't. this problem eventually fixed itself the first time, but it hasn't this time. my player will not read blu rays discs but it is reading regular dvds just fine. why is it doing this? is it broken? thanks in advance!!!

the only thing besides it's being broken i can think of is that the lens in the player is a bit dirty, which doesn't affect easier-to-read dvds, but is affecting blu-rays (which have more dense formatting).

so i would buy a lens cleaning disc and try that; if it doesn't help then i would get the player repaired or replaced.

you might also go to the sony support web site and look up your blu ray player and see if there is new firmware for it.

blu-ray players need firmware updates. its happen to me on my vizio. all of a sudden new movies wouldn't play til i updated firmware.
