the upcoming release of new macs and windows 7 os will not support blu-ray out of the box. the new shiny macs are capable of playing high definition contents. but, it will not support blu-ray playback without different software installations. also, microsoft's new windows 7 does not support blu-ray playback function. this is surprising as microsoft was fairly quick to include dvd support on their previous operating systems. if you want blu-ray playback capability, you will most likely have to pony up extra money for various software.
